A short history about Kolibri:

Kolibri (German for Hummingbird) started in 2010 as a small business venture between two people in the idyllic town of Rosenheim in Germany. In 2012, we outgrew our shop premises and relocated to Malta, where we launched an online shop with the aim of offering high quality beading material to the local beading community at an affordable price. The business idea was successful and since then, we have been increasing our selection of beading supplies steadily. We could also further reduce our prices and open an Etsy shop to better serve our international customers. In 2015, we moved again to a central location in Drogheda Co. Louth, Ireland (EU). Our range of quality beads, findings and jewellery supplies has expanded and improved over the years and we are now proud to be one of Ireland's most renowned online bead stores! We accept various physical and digital methods of payment and offer several shipping options, including next day courier delivery within the EU.

Our commitment towards the environment:

Smaller packages: if you order 2 or more of the same product, we will generally pack it in one bag.
No fancy inserts: We do not add any fancy advertisements, boxes or other unneeded items with orders.
We reuse bubble wrapping: We do not purchase bubble wrap but reuse unneeded bubble wrap acquired from various sources such as supermarkets and companies.
We reuse cardboard: We reuse most of the cardboard boxes - only a very small percentage is thrown away for recycling. For instance, we make bobbins out of used cardboard to roll cord, chain, etc.
Our padded envelopes are 100% recyclable and made from FSC certified sources.
We don't use glossy paper: All our invoices and stickers are printed on environmentally friendly and recyclable paper with no fancy and glossy coating. Receipts are printed on FSC-certified paper with no coloured ink.
All our packaging can be recycled and we are certified by the Grüne Punkt (the Green Dot).
We cycle every day to the post: Unless it's really pouring, we will take your order to the post using our Kolibri bicycle. This keeps us healthy and promotes a greener environment!
In our office and warehouse we only use low consumption computers and lighting: all computers, printers and lights are turned off during the evening.
Since 2025, Part of our office equipment runs on solar energy.

At Kolibri Bead Supplies, we pack all orders by hand and take them to the post on a daily basis so you can expect fast and reliable postage and shipping. We welcome all common forms of payment including cards, Revolut, Paypal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Bank Transfer and Cash upon collection. No payment-related info is stored on our website. All payment data is handled exclusively by the payment processors: PayPal and Revolut.

Irish (EU) business with international shipping
For orders being shipped within Ireland and in the European Union, VAT is already applied to the eligible items in your basket. You will not be required to pay any import duties or customs fees when your order is delivered.
For orders being shipped to countries outside of the European Union, no VAT and any sales tax will be collected by us. However your packages may be subject to the customs fees and import duties of the country to which you have your order shipped. It is the customer's duty to check about the rules and tax thresholds that apply in their country.
